The most recent injury to Erling Haaland comes as Pep Guardiola teases Man City vs. Nottingham Forest.

Manchester City feels confident going into their matchup with Nottingham Forest this weekend after defeating Brighton and Hove Albion handily in the Premier League.

Following Pep Guardiola’s hint, Manchester City may have their talisman striker Erling Haaland back in the lineup when they play Nottingham Forest in the Premier League this weekend.

The Norwegian forward, who is still recovering from a muscle ailment, was not included in the team that played Brighton & Hove Albion on Thursday night. After being substituted during the team’s quarterfinal loss to Real Madrid in the Champions League, Haaland was unable to play in the FA Cup semifinal match against Chelsea.

Haaland’s absence from the team, nevertheless, might come to an end on Sunday after Guardiola gave a positive indication on Thursday night. “I prefer to have Erling at my disposal than to have it [the squad without him],” the City manager stated to reporters.

“I spoke with him, and he says he feels better, I don’t know.” City won’t be overly concerned if Haaland is unable to play in the trip against relegation-threatened Forest, given their showing against Brighton.

After a magnificent diving header from Kevin De Bruyne and a brace from Phil Foden to put City solidly in the lead, the Blues were at their best in the first half. Just under 30 minutes remained, and Haaland’s replacement Julian Alvarez put an end to a ten-game goal drought with a tap-in after a strong run by Kyle Walker.

With their victory, City climbs back up to second place in the Premier League standings, one point behind leaders Arsenal who have played one more game than the Blues. When Guardiola’s team visits Tottenham Hotspur on Tuesday, May 14, they will play their match.
