NBA playoffs 2024: Conference semifinals news, schedule, scores and highlights

The NBA playoffs’ conference semifinals are underway. Expect plenty of drama after a thrilling start to the postseason. The Boston Celtics, the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference and top overall seed, await the winners of the series between the No. 4 seed Cleveland Cavaliers and No. 5 seed Orlando Magic. In the other East series, the No. 2 seed New York Knicks renew their old rivalry with the No. 6 seed Indiana Pacers.

The No. 1 seed Oklahoma City Thunder and the No. 5 seed Dallas Mavericks square off in the West. The Denver Nuggets, the defending NBA Finals champions, are matched against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the No. 3 seed, in the other West matchup.

To progress, the top four teams from each conference play each other in a best-of-7 series. The NBA playoffs consist of four best-of-seven rounds, with no club reseeding following a round. In every series, the team with the superior regular-season record will get home court advantage. Every series is played in a 2-2-1-1-1 format, with Games 1, 2, 5, and 7 (if needed) being hosted by the team with the superior record.

The NBA playoffs will be fully covered by us, as will the 2024 NBA Finals, which begin on June 6 on ABC and the ESPN app.
