Legend of the Lakers Likens Nikola Jokic to Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Magic Johnson

One former NBA player gave Nikola Jokic high accolades.

Jokic had a great first game. In Los Angeles, he led the Nuggets to a 114-103 victory over the Lakers. Jokic finished with 32 points, 12 rebounds, and 7 assists. Of the 23 shots he took during the game, he made 15.

James Worthy, a Hall of Famer, appeared on Spectrum SportsNet following the game. He likened Jokic to two legendary Lakers players.

In Worthy’s opinion, Jokic is similar to both Magic Johnson and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar when they are both on the floor. “He works as a security guard. He makes wise choices. A true pass master. Then he goes down and rules when he wants to be Kareem. He is a unique player with a wide range of abilities.”

Worthy is knowledgeable in his field. He spent seven years playing with Magic and Kareem. With them, he took home three championships.

On Sunday, Jokic was announced as one of the three finalists for the NBA MVP title. Many believe he will triumph. He would have three MVP medals if he does.

Johnson and Abdul-Jabbar are among the eight players who have won three or more NBA MVP trophies.
