Italy is defeated by Charlie Myall and Jack Kinder’s England U19 team.

At the Stadio Tommaso Fattori in L’Aquila yesterday, the England U19 team, led by Charlie Myall of Leicester Tigers and Jack Kinder, trounced Italy 40–10.

Both players started as fullbacks and centers, respectively, in the group’s triumph over France.

On Friday, May 3, a historic encounter will take place at Mattioli Woods Welford Road between the Georgia Black Lions and the Leicester Tigers XV in an exhibition game.

On May 1st, the Eastern European team will visit the East Midlands for the first time, fitting in between the final two home games of the Tigers’ 23/24 Gallagher Premiership season.

“We’re happy to be able to add an additional home game to our program and excited to welcome Georgia Black Lion to Mattioli Woods Welford Road,” Leicester Tigers Head Coach Dan McKellar remarked in reference to the match.

It’s important for our team to grow, as well as the club coaches and staff, and this game will provide them a chance to play against a top team at home.

Over a dozen Georgian internationals are part of the Black Lion squad, which has won five of its five games this year in 2024 under the direction of head coach and former Leicester player Richard Cockerill.

“I’m really looking forward to bringing a Georgian team back to my old stomping ground,” Cockerill remarked in reference to the Georgian team’s return to Mattioli Woods Welford Road.

“My best rugby memories, both as a player and as a coach, are of games played at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, which has a special atmosphere and history. Leicester has played a significant role in my life.

After their excellent debut in the EPCR Challenge Cup, the Black Lions have a great opportunity to face one of Europe’s best clubs in this fixture. I am very excited to present Georgian rugby to the Mattioli Woods Welford Road crowd and to give the Black Lion team a taste of Leicester rugby.
