HUGE DEAL: Ricky Gervais at the Top of Producers as he Signs a Contract worth $6.7m as Top Star of BBC wish

According to The Sun tabloid, Ricky Gervais is the top choice among producers to play the lead role in the upcoming celebrity adaptation of the BBC popular show The Traitors.

According to TV insiders, Gervais is one of the well-known British actors wanted for the project, which producers Studio Lambert disclosed last week at the Edinburgh TV Festival.

“The BBC want the crème de la crème of stars for the celeb spin-off, and they ideally have to be incredibly smart, funny, and mischievous— and that’s Ricky in three words,” the report quotes an industry source as saying.

Big celebrities have indicated their interest in participating behind the scenes once it was made public that a new version of The Traitors was being produced.

Other candidates in the frame are Friends alumna Courtenay Cox, who is well-known for her friendship with The Traitors host Claudia Winkleman, and British TV presenter Jonathan Ross, who is a friend of Gervais.

When The Traitors debuted on the BBC in 2022, it immediately became a huge hit, and Studio Lambert was quickly recommissioned for additional series. There are four coming soon, with three having already aired.

In the episode, a group of people are assembled in a Scottish castle, with a subset of them being covertly trained killers. Whether or not that group is able to wipe everyone off before or after they are exposed is what creates the suspense. Early in 2025 is when the celebrity version is anticipated to start filming.
