During their brief cover of the 1975 hit song “Stranglehold” by Ted Nugent during their performance on Thursday (September 12th) in Baltimore, Pearl Jam turned it into an anti-gun anthem.

 

Mike McCready, the guitarist for Pearl Jam, opened with the instantly familiar opening riff of “Stranglehold” halfway through the band’s most recent performance on their North American tour (get tickets here). Shortly after, Eddie Vedder joined in, singing “I don’t own a gun, I don’t ever want to own a gun/ I don’t own a gun, never want to own a gun” again and over.
