HEARTBREAKING SAD NEWS: Saints coach Dennis Allen Announce Taysom Hill Contract Termination After

Taysom Hill has played a number of roles and scenarios since joining the New Orleans Saints in 2017, including tight end, quarterback, and special teams. Additionally, Taysom Hill is being tried at fullback by Saints head coach Dennis Allen ahead of the 2024 NFL season.

Though Hill, at 6 feet 2 inches and 221 pounds, may provide a good, athletic spin on a position that isn’t played much, fullback is, in many ways, a position from a bygone era.

Head coach of the Saints Allen, who is starting his third season, said to Kay Adams on “Up & Adams” that he was starting Hill at fullback because the former BYU player “can do everything.”

“Creativity does that; it introduces some fresh concepts and ideas. Regarding the fullback experiment, Allen remarked, “They view the player in a different way.” He’s more than just a “wildcat” quarterback, but sometimes I think doing the same thing over and over might just lead to a habit of thinking that’s what this guy does. He is capable of playing several different positions. He can block, catch, and run in addition to playing tight end, wide receiver, tailback, and fullback. Since he is capable of doing all those things, let’s see how to position him to do so. I believe Klint Kubicak, the offensive coordinator for the Saints, has done a fantastic job of enabling him to do so.

Adams also inquired about Hill’s potential switch to defense, a move Allen said the team’s offensive play-caller, former Saints coach Sean Payton, rejected.

“I’ve given that some thought. We kind of considered making him a linebacker for Sam early on. We talked about it, I’m not joking,” Allen stated, going on to say that it didn’t work out because “the head coach at the time wasn’t giving up anything.”
