Head coach: Mark Pope is shocked forward Ugonna Onyenso terminate Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball 

Ugonna Onyenso, who was once certain about wanting to play professionally, is going to allow himself more options when it comes to his college career.

After spending two seasons playing at the University of Kentucky, Onyenso will use the transfer portal, according to Jeff Goodman of The Field of 68.

Ahead of the 2024 NBA draft, the sophomore forward informed ESPN’s Jonathan Givony that he was “not thinking about coming back to play college basketball.”

On April 15, six days after John Calipari announced he was leaving Kentucky to take a head coaching position at Arkansas, Onyenso made his first decision to turn pro.

According to the composite rankings of 247Sports, the Wildcats’ class of 2022 recruits, which included the 19-year-old Onyenso, was the third-best in the country.
