Dawson Merritt, a four-star linebacker, has committed to Alabama and head coach Kalen DeBoer.
The Blue Valley of Overland Park, Kansas, decided to support the Tide over Nebraska subsequent to their formal visit to Tuscaloosa earlier this month.
Merritt told On3, “Coach DeBoer is an amazing head coach.” He’s incredibly affable. He has a fantastic plan for the group. He’s beginning to achieve what he promised to do, and I can’t wait for everyone to watch him throughout the season. He accomplished remarkable things while at Washington, and he now has access to limitless resources at Alabama.
As a head coach, he has a 104–12 record. What guarantees that he won’t be successful in what he has put up for himself at Alabama? His support team is incredible, and I can’t wait to see what he can do. Everybody present is advanced. When it comes to programs, Alabama is on par with all of the others I’ve visited.
According to 247Sports, the 6-foot-3, 215-pound prospect is ranked as the No. 7 linebacker in the 2025 On300 and the No. 62 player overall in the nation.
On Saturday, Alabama football made a significant recruiting acquisition when offensive tackle Micah Debose of Vigor committed to the Crimson Tide. Prior to decommitting in December of 2023, DeBose had made a commitment to Georgia in January.
Merritt joins Alabama as their 19th pledge for the 2025 class.
