Free-agent wide receiver Zay Jones is visiting the Titans.

Wide receiver Zay Jones, a free agent, is visiting the Tennessee Titans.  Jones is scheduled to visit Nashville on Monday, as reported by Ian Rapoport. Shortly after the 2024 NFL Draft concluded, Jones was released by the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Titans’ nemesis in the AFC South.

Jones has a clear relationship with the Titans. His offensive coordinator with the Jaguars prior to joining the new team is Nick Holz. Holz served as the Las Vegas Raiders’ assistant wide receivers coach in addition to Jones. Jones’s 2017 regular season appearance total was eight due to injury. 34 receptions for 321 yards and two touchdowns was his total. Jones would be able to contribute immediately to Tennessee’s offense this offseason thanks to his familiarity.

The Titans are still researching veteran receivers who are available and fit for their offense. Last week, they welcomed Tyler Boyd as a free agent. Many believed that because Boyd was familiar with the incoming head coach, Brian Callahan, signing him was inevitable. The Titans are considering their options if they are bringing in Jones for a visit.

Before the aforementioned injury ended his 2023 campaign, Jones had his best season to date in 2022. Two seasons ago, Jones set personal records for receiving yards (823) and receptions (82). He would provide Tennessee’s receiving room an additional degree of seasoned protection.

It appears that the Titans are searching for a slot receiver to start in the 11 personnel with Calvin Ridley and DeAndre Hopkins. Although Jones spent much of the previous season as an outside receiver for the Jaguars, Pro Football Focus reports that he did see 139 snaps in the slot. Jones played 329 total plays in the slot in 2022 when he was in better health.
