Though there could be more applications for the enchantment on stage, children’s theater frequently imparts life lessons to young viewers.

In “Grammaw and the Magic Goo,” writer/director Ricky Graham, along with a few pals, considered ways to address several issues facing the city, such as potholes.

“We were hoping the problem was still there when we started working on [the show] in 2020,” explains Graham. “However, we weren’t concerned that it had a shelf life.”

This week marks the debut of the family-friendly musical comedy at Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts, and it should be a big hit.

Judy, the grammaw, is a resident of the Irish Channel and receives visits from her grandson Jayden. Judy has made friends with every person in the area, including the new neighbor Margie and the teenage twins Chloe and Zoe as well as the local police officer. Trudy, Judy’s lifelong rival and former school buddy, is the lone person who isn’t a good friend.
