AP/BROWNSBURG, INDIANA Although he will not be driving for the remainder of the season as he recovers from a traumatic brain injury sustained in an incident in Virginia last month, drag racing legend John Force might challenge for another Funny Car championship.

Robert Hight, CEO of John Force Racing, revealed this week that 16-time Funny Car champion Jack Beckman will drive for Force for the remainder of the season.

For a maximum of eight races, teams may substitute a driver according to NHRA rules, who can earn points in lieu of the original driver.
