Alabama Football: Updates on the offensive line after the scrimmage on Saturday

While Alabama’s spring scrimmage on Saturday afternoon produced a lot of encouraging results, the most important development was very alarming.

Guard Jaeden Roberts, a returning starter and star player, was knocked out of the scrimmage after appearing to sustain a lower body injury.

Regarding Roberts’ condition, coach Kalen DeBoer gave a comforting update, saying that “Jaeden’s gonna be fine” and that “nothing major” appears to be apparent from the early reports. Jaeden Roberts seems like he might miss some spring practice, but it shouldn’t have an effect on his status for the autumn.

A positive update on center Parker Brailsford was also provided by DeBoer. Before moving to Tuscaloosa with Coach DeBoer, Brailsford was one of the greatest centers in the nation when playing at Washington the previous season. One of the most highly anticipated transfer arrivals to Bama, he was expected to challenge for the starting slot at one of the most crucial positions on the team right away.

After several rumors surfaced in recent weeks indicating that Brailsford had missed spring practice, those opinions had changed. These stories added fire to the rumor that he was considering transferring from Alabama without ever taking a field position.

But according to DeBoer, “he’s going to be with us” and he is simply “going through some non-football related things.” The head coach of Alabama clarified even more, saying, “He should be ready to go here sooner rather than later…he’s going to be here with us, it’s not a transfer thing, it’s nothing like that.” Most coaches would have stopped there. I just want to make sure I understand.

It’s difficult to ever know what a player is thinking or intending to do in the age of transfer portals. Nevertheless, DeBoer stated as clearly as possible that Brailsford will play for Alabama this season, and there’s no reason not to believe him.

This season, Alabama Football’s interior offensive line should be an overwhelming strength, regardless of how the lineup ends up.
