NFL Draft Pick Beats Out Caitlin Clark

Although Caitlin Clark did not have to face Cooper DeJean, she was unable to defeat Caleb Williams.

According to CEO Michael Rubin, via The Sporting Tribune, jersey sales for the WNBA and Indiana Fever rookie sensation broke Fanatics records. That only lasted a week, as Field Level Media reports, Williams’ jersey sales shot to a new Fanatics record when the Chicago Bears selected him first overall in Thursday’s NFL Draft.

Williams has had a stellar career at USC, earning parallels to Patrick Mahomes. The Heisman Trophy winner for 2022 is an explosive passer and runner.

Even though Clark has drawn national notoriety as the NCAA’s all-time top scorer and a pinpoint passer at Iowa, DeJean, a Philadelphia Eagles draft pick, wasn’t afraid to take on Clark in a basketball competition. DeJean, a recent standout for the Iowa Hawkeyes football team, claimed to have fielded numerous inquiries concerning Clark throughout the pre-draft phase.

Not that it’s particularly strange, but a lot of teams have asked me if I could defeat Caitlin Clark in a one-on-one match simply because I’m from Iowa. The 21-year-old DeJean told Yahoo Sports, “I think I can.” She would undoubtedly score some baskets against me, but I believe I could pull it off.

At Odebolta, Iowa, DeJean excelled in high school basketball, finishing his career with 1,832 points. That’s less than fellow Iowan and tight end T.J. Hockenson of the Minnesota Vikings, but better than Iowa native and Golden State Warriors player Harrison Barnes.

Against Cooper, Caitlin Clark would have her hands full. DeJean, who is 6-foot-1 and 203 pounds, would be a challenge to DeJean Clark, who is 6-foot-0 and 155 pounds. David Hookstead of Out Kick noted that DeJean would have the advantage in terms of physicality.

Cooper DeJean had a vertical leap of about forty inches and was a dominant high school basketball player. “Caitlin Clark would be crushed by him,” wrote Hookstead. utterly demolish her. Anyone who disputes this is ignorant of sports.

DeJean would have taken to the court if he hadn’t played collegiate football. Tyler Barnes, the recruiting director for Iowa, was impressed by the 2021 video highlight clip.

Tyler Barnes, the recruiting director for Iowa, told The Athletic 2021, “Good size, rocked-up guy.” In one game, he probably had four or five dunks, including one where he dunked over two players. One measured roughly 6 to 5. His switch flipped as soon as he stepped onto the basketball court, seeing a calm child like that. “This kid is an absolute no-brainer,” I was emailing everyone of the staff when I saw him perform the way he did.

Caitlin Clark Will Have an Immediate Effect

In the WNBA, Clark won’t have to worry about facing players like DeJean, and she should be able to start right away. For the Fever, who have lost seven straight seasons, it is much needed.

At a press conference following the April 15 draft, Fever general manager Lin Dunn declared, “I’m a real big fan of what she’s already been able to accomplish in the spotlight.” Additionally, I believe that she will adapt to the pros more quickly than most people anticipate.

Dunn said, “Everyone was wondering if Aliyah Boston would, and look what she accomplished. “Aliyah entered with good strength. She was from a very good program. She was intelligent. Her work ethic was excellent. Clark also possesses all of that.
